Job Description
This summer I served as a sigma counselor. Sigma is a program designed to help disciple high school kids and prepare them to live there faith out in college. This summer, I was asked to work long hours and be with kids constantly. We were constantly speaking truth to campers and helping with various issues in their life. We also were asked to serve in other ways such as ropes courses, doing dishes, cleaning cabins, maintenance, and even helping with grounds crew.
Requirements and Qualifications
As sigma counselors, we were required to be followers of Jesus Christ and taking our faith and growth seriously. Our pursuit of campers to know the and pour into them wisdom and truth was expected and met this summer. We were also required to be CPR and First aid trained in case assistance in those areas was needed.
Benefits and Opportunities
Pay for this job was just over 2000 on the summer with food provided all but 1 meal a week, and room and board all summer in the cabins. We also got to live in the most beautiful part of Colorado and had days off to enjoy and explore the land. Benefits during camp included camping on top of a mountain every other week, white water rafting every other week, and being able to enjoy activities camp had (disk golf, basketball court, fishing, camp fires, etc.)
Acheivements
This summer I learned skills such as communication skills, team work skills, and learning how to connect with a new age of campers. I also learned how to resolve conflict and continue as a team with problems arise. The Lord definitely used this summer in my life to teach me some valuable life lessons. I was also able to grow previous relationships I had with my coworkers. As far as growth in physical skills, I didn't gain any new ones due to previous employment at Sky Ranch, I did however improve my skills in certain areas.
